Scented Geranium Guide

An old favorite and in fashion once again, scented geraniums are nonstop winter performers whether it's for plant form, textural and scented foliage, or late winter flowers. Many scented geranium leaves can also be used in teas and baking - in fact, there's nothing better than a lemon geranium muffin or sweetbread. Additionally, you can use the leaves as a lovely garnish on fresh fruit.

For your convenience, we've put together a few tips to keep your scented geraniums looking their best as well as a list of particular plants to look for.

Plant Requirements

• Lots of bright light to full sun in the winter.
• Repot often in terra cotta pots with a freely draining soil.
• Will withstand cool temperatures as long as there is plenty of light and the soil is kept lightly moist (never wet).
• If kept in 65-75 degree temperatures, they can be lightly fed through the winter.
• Don't be afraid to pinch or shear after winter, or place outside when weather permits for rejuvenated growth.
